NFL Free Agency: Falcons re-sign TE Parker Hesse as exclusive rights free agent
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons have brought back two lesser-known but critical pieces in recent days. Liam McCullough, the team’s long snapper, agreed to a deal; now, Parker Hesse, who was an exclusive-rights free agent, signed a one-year contract, per the Falcons’ Twitter.

The 27-year-old tight end only finished with nine catches for 89 receiving yards but was active for every single game, totaling 62% of offensive snaps. He was a critical piece in the offense’s success, particularly in the run game.

Arthur Smith deployed one of the best rushing attacks in the league, and Parker Hesse played an instrumental role. He’s not the flashy pass catcher that Kyle Pitts is but rather closer to a full back. He plays the H-back role, specializing in blocking.

It might not be the sexiest signing, but Hesse and other acquisitions like this are under-the-radar players that make the engine go.
