NFL futures bets: 2023 NFC East Division win totals

Free agency and the draft are behind us, and now we await the start of training camp and the new NFL season it brings with it. As we bide our time, it's time to look around the league to see how sportsbooks are projecting each team's season to go. The easiest way to gauge team sentiment is a look at the line set for regular-season wins.

Today, we turn to the NFC East, a division that has not seen a back-to-back winner since 2004.

NFC East Win Totals

Philadelphia Eagles 11.5
Over -110/Under -110

The Eagles made the Super Bowl a season ago, going 14-3 in the regular season and clinching the conference's top seed. Philadelphia came just three points shy of winning their second Super Bowl in five years, and there's every reason to believe another big season is coming.

It all starts with the quarterback. Jalen Hurts had an incredible 2022 season, cementing his place as the next franchise passer in Philadelphia, earning a hefty contract extension this offseason. The leader of this team, players have bought in to how Hurts prepares, and he's the type of player we can get behind to avoid a Super Bowl hangover.

2023 Philadelphia Eagles schedule analysis

The Philadelphia offense remains mostly intact. AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert form a menacing trio of pass catchers, and their offensive line remains the best in football. While the Eagles took some losses on the defensive side, they've filled their holes admirably, headlined by the additions of Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith in the draft.

It's a tough schedule for Philly, with games against the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers and Cowboys all in succession from Weeks 11-14, but the Eagles are right there among the league's elite and should be up to the task.

In a conference that lacks quarterback talent, the Eagles easily rise above the rest. Another big season seems likely, and we expect Philly to be back in the NFC Championship Game at a minimum in 2023.

Betting: Over 11.5 wins (-110)

Dallas Cowboys 9.5
Over -130/Under +110

The Cowboys won 12 games last season, the second straight season they've gone 12-5. We'd argue the Cowboys were the second-best team in the NFC for much of the season, and they do seem likely to remain the Eagles' biggest test throughout the year.

We mentioned it above, but the quarterback quality in this conference is not great, and Dak Prescott certainly feels like one of the four best options in the NFC. The team added Brandin Cooks this offseason to join CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup to open up the passing game, and the offensive line remains a strength for the team despite some aging pieces.

2023 Dallas Cowboys schedule analysis

The defense is led by Micah Parsons, one of the most elite defensive players in the NFL, and the Cowboys tend to force turnovers, a handy skill to bring to the table.

We see quite a few winnable games on Dallas' schedule. They should handle business against the Cardinals, Patriots, Rams, Panthers and Commanders, and they typically find more division wins than not on a year-to-year basis. We expect double-digit wins again out of Dallas.

Betting: Over 9.5 wins (-130)

New York Giants 8.5
Over +120/Under -140

The Giants went 9-7-1 last season, losing in the Divisional Round to Philadelphia. It was a strong first year for head coach Brian Daboll, but their point differential of -6 on the season suggests to us a team that over-performed and got quite lucky in one-score games.

We have a hard time buying into Daniel Jones as the guy, and we haven't seen enough elsewhere from the Giants that suggests a leap is coming for the team.

2023 New York Giants schedule analysis

With the Eagles and Cowboys clearly the better teams in both the division and the conference, someone in the NFC East is bound to dip down, and we have a feeling that's New York.

Three or four losses seem likely to the pair of Philly and Dallas, and we'd lean toward the Giants losing their games against San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Buffalo at minimum. Already, that's eight losses, which doesn't leave very much room for error.

We're fading the Giants in 2023.

Betting: Under 8.5 wins (-140)

Washington Commanders 6.5
Over -120/Under +100

One benefit for Washington heading into 2023 is the last-place schedule it will get. It opens up a handful of winnable games for the Commanders this season, namely against the Cardinals, Bears, Falcons and Rams.

The Commanders' biggest question comes from the QB position, as the team is heading into training camp with Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett battling it out for the starting job. That is hardly an inspiring group, but this team does have talent on both ends of the ball.

2023 Washington Commanders schedule analysis

The unfortunate truth for Washington is that the Commanders continue to be just mediocre enough, keeping the franchise in endless purgatory. They don't win enough to make the playoffs, but they also don't lose enough for a chance at one of the best QBs in the draft. With a strong defensive line and a solid offensive group at the skill-positions, we feel a 7-10 season coming down the tracks.

Betting: Over 6.5 wins (-120)
