NFL futures: These Giants rumors could give us bets to make

As the NFL Combine continues on this week in Indy, more and more rumors and reports are trickling out from various NFL reporters. A few most recent rumblings revolve around the New York Giants, and it may be worth following the rumor mill for a pair of betting picks.

Rumor: Giants could draft a QB at No. 6

The top of this year's draft seems to be quarterback heavy, with Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye all projected to go near the top of the board, and perhaps even 1-2-3 to start the draft.

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reported that Giants general manager Joe Schoen hinted this week that a quarterback could be on the table for New York with the sixth pick.

Maybe this is a smoke screen to garner trade interest with their selection, or maybe there's fire where there's smoke. Daniel Jones has suffered multiple neck injuries the past few seasons and while he signed a long-term deal last year, he remains a relative gamble at the sport's most important position.

Mel Kiper suggested the QB at play at No. 6 might be Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, who is expected to test and interview well this week at the Combine.

Should the Giants look to make a move for a new signal-caller, and the top three options are off the board, it's certainly worth considering a bet on who New York takes.

McCarthy is currently +1600 to be the Giants' first draft pick this April.

Rumor: The Texans might pursue Saquon Barkley

It appears the whispering is growing louder around the future of Giants star running back Saquon Barkley taking place on a different team.

Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reported on Thursday that league sources say "the feeling at the NFL Scouting Combine is that the Texans could be the biggest offseason spenders on a free-agent running back, because their roster construction allows it within the salary cap."

With that in mind, Barkley is the crown jewel of this free-agent RB class, and his addition to Houston does make sense. The Texans have a ton of cap space thanks to C.J. Stroud and so many other key contributors on their rookie deals, which gives them the luxury to perhaps over pay on a position that many teams don't value.

Barkley is set to hit free agency in just a few weeks, and with the rumors around Houston being aggressive for his services or a player of his ilk, now may be the time to back up these reports with a bet.

You can grab the Texans to be Barkley's next team at +150 on DraftKings.
