NFL Futures: This QB is listed ahead of Tua Tagovailoa to throw most passing yards

Tua Tagovailoa is putting together quite the comeback campaign, and he has the stats to prove it.

The Miami Dolphins starting QB has rebounded from an injury-riddled 2022 season to put together an impressive run through seven weeks of NFL games. As the leader of Miami's red-hot offense, Tagovailoa is leading the league with 2,092 passing yards. (He also has the highest passer rating at 110.4.) Minnesota Vikings shot caller Kirk Cousins comes in second with 2,057, and Kansas City Chiefs leader Patrick Mahomes is third on the list with 2,017.

Yet somehow Tagovailoa isn't the favorite at DraftKings to be the league's leader in passing yards at the end of the season. 

If not Tagovailoa, then who?

Over at DK, Mahomes is actually the favorite at 2-1 odds to finish the season with the most passing yards. Tagovailoa comes in a short second at 3-1, while Cousins falls in at 6-1 odds.

On one hand, it isn't completely surprising that Mahomes tops DK's list. He is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and his team is the 9-2 favorite to win it all over again next February.

That being said, Mahomes currently ranks fifth in the league in passer rating as well as third in passing yards per game and fifth in yards per attempt -- both areas where Tagovailoa ranks first.

Are sportsbooks expecting Tagovailoa to slump down the stretch while Mahomes soars?

Both Kansas City and Miami are playing weaker teams in Week 8, with the Dolphins hosting the New England Patriots and the Chiefs visiting the Denver Broncos. Those odds could certainly change after these QB's respective games. We'll just have to check back in next week and see.
