The Los Angeles Rams have enough in place to make a Super Bowl run in 2025.
They have one of the most complete rosters in the NFL, and a championship winning head coach in Sean McVay. Last season Los Angeles was eliminated in the divisional round of the playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl winners, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Teams that are on the cusp of winning a championship often make all-in type of moves to get them over the hump. NFL insider Matt Bowen believes the Rams currently have that opportunity with one of their former All-Pro players -- Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
"Miami general manager Chris Grier said the team is looking at offers for Ramsey, who is no longer a blue-chip defender at age 30. The Rams could use his skill set, as his jolt of speed and ball production would upgrade their secondary. They'd also have to give up a lot less this time around to acquire him. Ramsey can still pattern match vertically downfield, and he still has high-end backfield vision in zone coverage. He would also give Los Angeles more flexibility in sub packages because he can create disruptive plays as a nickel corner. He had 2 interceptions, 8 pass breakups and 6 tackles for loss in Miami last season." -- Matt Bowen
Ramsey played for the Rams from 2019-2022. During that time he made the Pro Bowl each year, was named an All-Pro twice, and helped L.A. win Super Bowl LVI. For all the reasons Bowen listed, bringing Ramsey back into the fold makes all the sense in the world.
The only potential hold up is his contract. Ramsey is set to make roughly $21 million in 2025, which would be a bit of a challenge for L.A. to make happen. The Dolphins will have to be willing to eat some dead money, but they're going to have to do that regardless. At the end of the day, if the Rams want to make it happen, they can. It's really just a matter of whether or not they deem it as a worthy move to make.
