The search for an Offensive Coordinator for the Buccaneers is in full swing. And this hire could be tied directly to Head Coach Todd Bowles’ future with the team.
The Buccaneers need an innovative OC. They need an OC that can utilize the stockpile of weapons the Pewter Pirates have. And that guy may very well be former Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel.
“Mike McDaniel has made the rounds, and if I had to guess, he’ll probably wind up as an offensive coordinator in the next week or so. I’ve heard Tampa Bay could be a good spot for him, and that, if he does a good job, he could be set up to be Todd Bowles’s eventual successor.”
Mike McDaniel is getting a lot of attention for his impressive offensive skills. He’s been interviewing for several head coaching and offensive coordinator positions, including with the Buccaneers, Ravens, Browns, Falcons, Titans, Lions, and Eagles. Considered a top offensive mind, McDaniel led the Dolphins to the playoffs in his first two seasons and had a standout 2023 season with a #1 total offense ranking.
This is pretty much a no-brainer. If McDaniel wants the job, get him signed now. He’s clearly the best fit for this offense.
