NFL Is Officially Investigating Starbucks Incident At The Combine

One of the most bizarre stories to come out of the NFL Scouting Combine doesn't involve any NFL players, but instead a pair of NFL insiders.

Yesterday reports out of Indianapolis, Indiana stated that there was an altercation between FOX NFL insider Jordan Schultz and NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport at an Indianapolis Starbucks. While there's no evidence that things got physical, there is plenty to suggest that the confrontation was very heated and close to getting physical.

Now the league is investigating. According to ProFootballTalk, NFL security is looking into the altercation between Schultz and Rapoport.

"The NFL is indeed looking into the Wednesday afternoon brouhaha in an Indianapolis Starbucks," Mike Florio reported this morning.

"A league spokesperson said that security personnel are looking into the verbal altercation between Jordan Schultz of Fox and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media."

ProFootballTalk previously reported that the incident began with Schultz (who happens to be the son of former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz) confronting Rapoport in the Starbucks and demanding that the two talk.

When Rapoport refused, Schultz allegedly became even more confrontational and may have even made a veiled threat.

But Schultz told PFT that there was nothing to the incident other than a "verbal confrontation."

“It really isn’t anything too much. Ian Rapoport and I had a verbal confrontation. It lasted a little over a minute. Multiple agents and reporters were nearby. Rapoport was the one who called security shortly after, but it never escalated further," Schultz told PFT in a text message.

That may come as a disappointment to NFL fans, who were probably hoping to hear that the two started throwing $9 coffee cups at one another and start a Happy Gilmore-style brawl causing wanton destruction.

It sounds like it's much ado about nothing in the end.
