One of the most anticipated revenge games of the 2025 season officially has a date and time, so get the popcorn ready.

The Chicago Bears will face off in a rematch against the Washington Commanders, this time on Monday Night Football, during Week 6 of the NFL season.

The most recent matchup between these two teams lived up to the hype with Bears' quarterback Caleb Williams dueling against Commanders' quarterback Jayden Daniels. Round 2 is about to be even better.

Putting this game on a national stage live on ESPN is an easy call for the NFL schedule-makers to make after seeing how this game went down last time.

The 2024 matchup between these two teams occurred in Week 8 on Sunday Night Football with the 4-2 Bears playing on the road against the 5-2 Commanders. Both teams were heating up at the right time and the outcome of that game changed the entire course of the 2024 season for both teams.

After being held scoreless through basically three quarters, the Bears kept the game alive and even took the lead with :25 remaining in the fourth-quarter. The game seemed to be decided until bad decision-making by former head coach Matt Eberflus allowed the Commanders to get within striking range of a Hail Mary attempt.

With just two seconds on the clock, Daniels heaved 50+ yard throw in a last-ditch effort toward the end zone that was miraculously caught by wide receiver Noah Brown for a game-winning touchdown. Before the play, cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was caught out of position heckling the fans.

The Bears were in complete shock as the Commanders' sideline rushed the field. That loss started what turned into a 10-game losing streak for the Bears.

"When you look at what happened after [that game], it's hard to say it didn't have an effect on the team," general manager Ryan Poles said about the loss. "It's one thing to say that but being resilient and overcoming those hard times is part of championship makeup, and that's where we need to get better."

After the loss many players in the locker room felt the coaching staff, and mainly Eberflus, didn't do well enough to hold themselves accountable, creating a major rift between the locker room and the coaches that led to a new staff coming in.

As for the Commanders, the win was a huge morale boost that fueled the remainder of the season, leading all the way to the NFC Championship Game with a rookie quarterback at the helm. Which is something the Bears hoped they would be the ones accomplishing in 2024.

Under new head coach Ben Johnson, the Bears will once again be looking to prove they can hang with the best and become a force themselves in the NFC. Getting the chance to get their lick back against the Commanders on a national stage coming out of the bye week will be a big opportunity to prove that can be the case in 2025.
