Randy Moss established himself as one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history during his 14-year career. He burst onto the scene after joining the Minnesota Vikings in 1998 and later nearly helped the New England Patriots complete a perfect season in 2007, when he set the NFL single-season record for touchdown receptions.

Following his playing career, Moss joined ESPN in 2016 as an analyst on the pregame shows “Sunday NFL Countdown” and “Monday Night Countdown.” At the start of the 2019 season, ESPN adopted the segment “You Got Mossed!,” which highlights some of the league’s best catches in which players leap over defenders, a nod to Moss’ Hall of Fame playing style.

And in July of 2024, Moss made a career move tied to the popular phrase, filing for a trademark on “You Got Moss’d.” On Monday, the NFL icon officially secured the trademark, turning “You Got Moss’d” into a business venture that will feature a range of apparel, including shirts, pants, gloves and hats.

"Over the years, I’ve learned the importance and power of ownership, which is why it was important for me to take that ownership in my own name and protect the You Got Moss’d brand that’s been built over decades of hard work,” Moss said to Boardroom.

"EXCLUSIVE: Randy Moss is turning one of the NFL’s most iconic calls into a business," Boardroom wrote on Instagram in a joint post with Moss. "The NFL icon has officially trademarked “You Got Moss’d,” securing the phrase for commercial use. The filing was originally submitted in July 2024. The trademark covers items including hats, hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants, fishing shirts and vests, gloves, and outdoor footwear — a move that protects the phrase from unauthorized use while positioning Moss to extend his legacy beyond the field."

By securing the trademark, Moss is locking in one of the most iconic phrases in recent NFL history, which remains firmly attached to his legacy, extending his impact from the field to the business world years after his retirement.
