Former Eagles legend Jason Kelce, and brother Travis Kelce, were recently on their podcast and were discussing Chiefs first-round pick, offensive tackle Josh Simmons. In assessing Simmons' play, (Jason) Kelce compared the Ohio State product to a pair of Hall of Fame talents.
"It was like flashes of like Jason Peters, Trent Williams movement and bending and redirecting," the former Eagle said.
Sure, let's compare a rookie, coming off an injury, to NFL legends.
What's especially funny, here, is the fact that Kelce is comparing Simmons to another former Eagles teammate and future Hall of Famer, Jason Peters.
We're talking about a two-time First-Team All-Pro selection and somebody who also earned four additional Second-Team nods.
We're talking about a 9-time Pro Bowler.
This is a player who is going to get a gold jacket in his first opportunity. But, yeah, let's compare him a rookie who is currently coming back from a torn patellar tendon. That seems perfectly logical.
Oh, and by the way, Kelce also compared Simmons to another future Hall of Famer in Trent Williams, who has been the best tackle in the game for several years running. Williams has three First-Team All-Pro nods and 11 Pro Bowls.
I am not exactly sure how he thinks that possibly checks out, but to each his own.
Meanwhile, the Chargers have another one of the best offensive tackles in the game, 26-year-old Rashawn Slater. To be quite frank, and to enjoy a fun little poke, the Chiefs probably would have had a better chance in last year's Super Bowl with a tackle like Slater.
Things surely would have turned out better than the total beatdown Kansas City endured, if Patrick Mahomes was protected by a talent such as number 70..
Oh, hypotheticals are fun, aren't they, Chiefs fans?
