NFL Makes Announcement on Cowboys Incident

There was no shortage of action during Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Chargers. In the end, it was the Chargers who secured a 34-17 road victory at AT&T Stadium, officially shutting down the Cowboys’ playoff chances.

One of the most controversial moments in the game came in the second quarter as Cowboys wide receiver Ryuan Flournoy took a hard hit from Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman. The referees called a personal foul on Perryman for unnecessary roughness after his helmet made forcible contact with that of Flournoy during the tackle.

The NFL announced on Monday that Perryman was to be suspended for the Chargers’ remaining two games of the regular season. The Pro Bowl LB appealed the league’s decision with the hope of being cleared to play for the final stretch of the campaign.

On Tuesday, NFL Senior Vice President of Football & International Communications Michael Signora announced that the league has decided to uphold the suspension on Perryman.

“Hearing officer Jordy Nelson, jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFLPA, has upheld the two-game suspension of Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman,” Signora posted on X.

Perryman will not be available for the Chargers on Saturday when they face the Houston Texans, and on Week 18 against the Denver Broncos.

This is a developing story and will be updated shortly.
