Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles have now suffered back-to-back losses after starting the new NFL season with four straight wins. Their latest defeat came at the hands of Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants in a thrilling “Thursday Night Football” clash.

Hurts turned in another strong performance against New York, registering 24-of-33 completed passes for 283 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The reigning Super Bowl MVP also had seven carries for 13 yards and one rushing TD.

It still wasn’t enough, though, as the Giants secured an impressive 34-17 win at MetLife Stadium in the primetime matchup.

Hurts has had a strong start in his sixth season with the Eagles. Entering Thursday’s clash, the two-time Pro Bowler had a 66.9% completion rate on 139 pass attempts. The former Oklahoma Sooners star had already amassed seven touchdowns with zero interceptions.

On top of that, Hurts had already recorded 182 rushing yards and four TDs on 43 attempts in his first five games of the campaign. He added to that tally on Thursday night for his fifth rushing TD of the season and, incredibly, the 60th of his career.

No other quarterback in the history of the sport has ever reached this mark, and NFL+ took to social media to announce Hurts’ latest historic milestone.

“Jalen Hurts becomes the first QB in NFL history to record 60+ rush TDs in his first 6 career seasons ” the NFL’s streaming service posted on X.

For context, reigning NFL MVP Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills is No. 2 on the list behind Hurts. In Allen’s first six seasons, he logged 53 rushing touchdowns in 94 games. Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, on the other hand, needed 86 games to reach 29 rushing TDs in his first six years. Hurts has 60 in just 83 games.

This speaks volumes about Hurts being an elite dual-threat quarterback. He’s not just a runner who can throw. Rather, he’s a complete offensive weapon whose running game has become an integral part of the Eagles’ scoring system. The fact that he’s already led Philadelphia to a Super Bowl is a clear testament to this fact.

On top of having arguably the best legs for a QB in the NFL today, Hurts also ranks among the top when it comes to passing. His eight passing TDs are just four behind Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions’ league-leading 12 TD passes. Hurts is also 12th in the NFL in passing yards with 1,172.

The Eagles will now need Hurts to turn these awe-inspiring numbers into wins. Philly’s title defense has run into a bump on the road with these two straight losses, and they will want to get back on track in their next game.

This comes in the form of a Week 7 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 19.
