NFL Makes Punishment Announcement After Quinshon Judkins Incident

Todd Monken and the Cleveland Browns have been steadier than most expected through the 2026 NFL season, with the first-year head coach guiding a team that bounced back from a 34-10 opening-day loss at Jacksonville to start 5-2.

That record matches the franchise’s best start since 2020 and already ties the Browns’ win total from all of last year, with Deshaun Watson leading a game-winning drive in all five of the team’s wins.

The trip to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers was a different story, a 27-6 loss as messy as the score suggests, with Watson sacked eight times and the team flagged nine times for 85 yards. One of those nine penalties has drawn more attention than any of the others.

It came in the third quarter and belonged to running back Quinshon Judkins, who had just picked up 12 yards on a catch, only to see the play nullified because of what he did immediately afterward.

Moments after the reception, the 2025 second-round pick began trash-talking Steelers safety Jaquan Brisker, and the resulting 15-yard taunting penalty took those 12 yards away.

Now, the NFL has made its decision as well, handing down an $11,941 fine.

The fine is the second for Judkins in a five-week span. The first came when he and Watson each lost more than $14,000 over a pretend-smoking touchdown celebration in the Oct. 1 win over those same Steelers.

The running back has totaled 342 yards on 101 carries with three touchdowns and 21 catches for 134 yards, including a Week 7 outing against Tennessee that produced 96 yards and two scores.

He is coming back from the dislocated ankle that cut his rookie season short after 827 yards and seven touchdowns, and he sat out Week 6 with an ankle injury. Judkins is signed to a fully guaranteed four-year, $11.4 million deal with a $4.9 million signing bonus.

The Browns return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. ET against the Saints, who are 2-5 and still winless at home, at Caesars Superdome.
