Key Points:
Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers saw their perfect 2025 NFL season end in Week 4, falling to 3-1 after a 31-25 loss to Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles. Mayfield put together a strong performance, throwing for 289 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, but the Eagles’ defense held firm on Tampa Bay’s final drive to seal the win.
On the first play of the fourth quarter, with Tampa Bay trailing by 11, Mayfield connected with wide receiver Chris Godwin for an eight-yard gain. But the former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback took a hard shot to the neck from Philadelphia linebacker Josh Uche, resulting in a 15-yard penalty that helped set up a field goal to end the drive.
The NFL has issued three fines in 2025 for blows to the head or neck. In Week 3, Mayfield's teammate, Antoine Winfield Jr., was fined $17,389 for an illegal hit, while Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen (Week 2) and Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (Week 4) received the same penalty.
However, the league did not consider Josh Uche’s hit on Mayfield punishable, allowing him to avoid a fine in Week 4.

While no Buccaneers players were fined after Week 4, two Eagles were. Cooper DeJean got hit with an $11,593 taunting fine, while Jalyx Hurt received two separate unnecessary roughness charges totaling $13,668.
Up next for Mayfield and the Buccaneers, a road battle with the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.
