Cam Skattebo and the New York Giants secured their best win of the 2025 NFL season in Week 6, taking down Jalen Hurts and the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles 34-17. Skattebo, the former Arizona State Sun Devils star, had easily his best game of his young NFL career, recording 19 carries for 98 yards and three touchdowns to go with two catches for 12 yards.
With 5:05 remaining in the fourth quarter and the win essentially sealed for the Giants, Skattebo scampered for an eight-yard gain to pick up a first down. At the end of the play, Eagles safety Andrew Makuba shoved the rookie after he had gone out of bounds, sending Skattebo flying. When he got back up, Skattebo exchanged words with the defender and was flagged for a 15-yard taunting penalty.
Normally in the NFL, players are fined $11,593 for a first taunting offense, with the amount increasing to $17,389 for a second violation. However, the league determined that Skattebo’s taunt did not warrant a fine, allowing the Giants running back to dodge a bullet.
While Skattebo was not fined for his actions against the Eagles, Giants safety Tyler Nubin was penalized $10,324 for a hip-drop tackle early in the fourth quarter. In fact, no NFL players were fined for taunting in Week 6. But Skattebo got off lucky as 13 tautning fines have been handed out through the first six weeks of the 2025 season.
