NFL Makes Punishment Decision on Josh Allen Incident

After taking down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in their highly anticipated showdown in Week 9, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills came crashing back down to earth the following week. They suffered an upset loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Nov. 9, 30-13, as Tua Tagovailoa and Co. marked just their third win of the season.

It was a disappointing outcome for the Bills as they saw their two-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Miami. Allen, who finished the loss with 28-of-40 completed passes for 306 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, was involved in an incident during the game — one that has now drawn a final decision from the NFL.

Dolphins star defensive end Bradley Chubb sacked Allen in the fourth quarter. Four minutes were remaining in the game, and Miami had virtually secured the win at that point. Chubb, who sat out the previous season due to a knee injury, got a little bit too excited after his big play against the Bills quarterback.

Chubb crawled over Allen after the sack before getting up and celebrating the hit. The game officials did not like what they saw from the Miami pass rusher, and they flagged Chubb for taunting. This resulted in a 15-yard penalty for the Dolphins. The Bills eventually scored a touchdown on the same drive.

After reviewing the incident, the NFL has now made a final decision on Chubb’s potential punishment. The good news for the two-time Pro Bowler is that he has not been fined for his antics in the Bills game.

The NFL announced Week 10’s fines on Saturday via the gameday accountability update , and Chubb’s name was not on the list. For context, two players were fined for taunting in Week 10. Jessie Bates of the Atlanta Falcons ($11,593) and Kamari Lassiter of the Houston Texans ($11,382) were both hit with substantial fines.

Chubb and the Dolphins are back in action in Week 11. They will be looking to make it back-to-back wins when they take on the Washington Commanders in Madrid, Spain, as part of the NFL’s international games.

Allen and the Bills, on the other hand, will want to bounce back against Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday in a home game at Highmark Stadium.
