Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings secured a big win on Sunday, shutting out the Washington Commanders in a dominant 31-0 win. This was a nice bounce-back victory for the Vikings, who were coming off an embarrassing loss in their last game after getting shut out by the Seattle Seahawks, 26-0.
Jefferson, however, continued to struggle in Sunday’s victory. The two-time All-Pro wide receiver was quiet in the win, finishing with just two catches for 11 yards. This forgettable outing followed his six-catch, four-yard performance against the Seahawks.
Jefferson received some news prior to Sunday’s game. The NFL made a decision on the incident he was involved in against Seattle, and it wasn’t exactly a favorable update for the Vikings star.

Jefferson entered the 2025 campaign with four Pro Bowl nods in his first five seasons in the NFL. He was also named to the All-Pro squad twice in the last three years. In 2023, the former LSU Tigers star won the Offensive Player of the Year award after leading the league in receptions (128), receiving yards (1,809) and first downs (80).
Jefferson has failed to live up to his high standards this season, though. In 13 games played thus far, the former Offensive Rookie of the Year has registered 64 catches for 810 yards, two touchdowns and 35 first downs.
In Week 13 against the Seahawks, Jefferson’s frustrations boiled. The Vikings wideout confronted Seattle rookie safety Nick Emmanwori after the latter body slammed Jefferson to the ground following a catch.

Jefferson clearly wasn’t pleased with Emmanwori’s tackle, which prompted the Minnesota star to shove the rookie right after getting slammed to the ground. The referees found Emmanwori’s tackle to be excessive, resulting in an unnecessary roughness penalty. The Vikings were awarded a 15-yard penalty.
The NFL has reviewed the incident and have determined that Emmanwori’s actions did not warrant a fine. The league announced its decision via the gameday accountability report, which contained all the fines from Week 13.
For context, 22 incidents of unnecessary roughness resulted in a fine from the NFL. Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco received the most substantial fine: $46,371 for a use of the helmet violation.
Emmanwori has not been fined throughout his NFL career, and he was able to keep his record clean after the league’s decision on his incident with Jefferson.
