NFL Network Disrespects Green Bay Packers In 2025 All-Rookie Team Projections

For the past two years, the Green Bay Packers have been one of the youngest teams in the league. This hasn’t stopped them from winning. They have gone to the playoffs in back-to-back seasons despite counting on contributions from rookies. Last year, the Packers had two players make the All-Rookie Team: LB Edgerrin Cooper and S Evan Williams. This year, there are plenty of rookies who could earn these honors, one of them being first-round pick Matthew Golden. NFL Network doesn’t think the Packers will have the best rookies and made some disrespectful picks for this year’s All-Rookie Team.

Green Bay Packers Rookies Left Off All-Rookie Projections

A lot of the projections by NFL Network’s Gennaro Filice are not bold takes. Players like Cam Ward and Ashton Jeanty will get plenty of work throughout the season and are projected to put up stats. However, the wide receiver picks have left Green Bay Packers fans scratching their heads. New England Patriots third-round pick Kyle Williams is projected to land All-Rookie honors (along with Travis Hunter). His explanation is this.

“Williams is indeed a fun watch, exhibiting the kind of dynamism and swagger that lead you to believe he can make a smooth transition to the league. The 22-year-old still needs to refine the finer points of his game — eliminating concentration drops and polishing his route-running — but there’s a lot of reason to believe he could wind up as a third-round steal who significantly nurtures the growth of Drake Maye.”

His reasoning isn’t totally off base. The Green Bay Packers have a glut of talent on offense. The ball could get spread around, suppressing the stats Golden gets in his rookie year. New England doesn’t have many weapons, so Williams could see a ton of work. However, Green Bay has made it clear that they view the former Texas wide receiver as a number one option. They took him in the first round for a reason, and he should see plenty of targets.

2025 Expectations

Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers have plenty of pressure on them in 2025. While the offense was good last year, they failed in key moments, especially against the top teams in the league. Injuries played a part, but many players didn’t have a great season. Drops were a huge issue for the wide receivers and caused them to leave points on the board in big moments.

GM Brian Gutekunst has made it clear he wants that group to be better in 2025. Even with Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and many others on the roster, he took two wide receivers in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. The early returns at OTAs have been good, and hopefully, we will see a more confident offense this year.

Final Thoughts

It seems like people are not talking about Matthew Golden having a big year. The Green Bay Packers clearly thought highly of him and will undoubtedly work to get him the ball as much as possible. Golden may not get the All-Rookie honors, but he should be in the conversation throughout the year.
