NFL Network Reporter Has 4-Word Response To Shedeur Sanders, Cowboys Talk

For the past few weeks, there's been a lot of smoke surrounding Shedeur Sanders and the Dallas Cowboys. That won't change anytime soon, especially with "America's Team" in meltdown mode.

On this Tuesday's edition of "The Herd," former Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin added fuel to the fire by claiming Deion Sanders would be willing to coach Jerry Jones' franchise as long as they draft his son in April.

"I believe 100 percent and I can tell you, good sources have told me that," Irvin said. "Great sources have told me that. That's all I can say about that without violating anything else."

Before people in Dallas start buying their own customized Shedeur Sanders jersey, it's worth noting that longtime insider Ed Werner doesn't see this "dream scenario" becoming a reality. Why is that? Well, because the franchise just gave Dak Prescott a four-year, $240 million contract extension.

"They just made Dak Prescott the highest-paid player in the NFL, and he has a no-trade clause and prohibitive cap hits," Werder tweeted in response to Irvin's comments

Cowboys reporter Jane Slater backed up Werder's words with her own social media post. She wrote, "What Ed says here…"

Getting rid of Prescott next offseason would create a financial burden for the Cowboys. According to Spotrac, a trade before June 1 would force the team to take on $104 million in dead cap.

Besides, quarterback isn't the big issue in Dallas right now. The real concerns are in the trenches. The Cowboys can't stop the run on defense and can't field a respectable rushing attack.

Trading away Prescott and replacing him with Sanders would be great for ratings, but the results on the field probably wouldn't get better.
