Back in late March, the NFL and NFL Players Association began planning to relax COVID-19 health and safety guidelines for vaccinated personnel and for clubs that hit a certain percentage of vaccinated members of traveling parties made up of essential employees, such as players and coaches.
The league will soon incentivize fans to receive coronavirus vaccine shots.
On Wednesday, the NFL announced that it is providing 50 free tickets to Super Bowl LVI, held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles next February, to vaccinated fans. Information on how to win a pair of tickets will be unveiled during Saturday night's "Global Citizen's VAX Live: The Concert to Reunite the World" event that will air on ABC, CBS and Fox from SoFi Stadium beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Selena Gomez is hosting the show, and President Joe Biden, Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder and Foo Fighters are among those who will make appearances during the event meant to promote vaccine equity.
Additionally, vaccinated fans will receive a 25% discount from NFL Shop. Details on that offer will be announced at a later date.
In total, 21 NFL stadiums have served as temporary vaccination sites and have administered over three million shots. League executives remain hopeful stadiums will be safely filled to their capacities for games by Week 1 of the 2021 season.
