The Kansas City Chiefs knew  their opponent for the divisional round of the playoffs after the Buffalo Bills defeated the Denver Broncos in the wild-card round on Sunday afternoon. Now, they officially know the time and date of their upcoming game against the Houston Texans

The NFL announced the time and date for the Chiefs' divisional playoff game against the Texans. The Chiefs will officially welcome Houston to Kansas City on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN/ABC.

The Chiefs defeated the Texans 27-19 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 16 of the 2024 NFL season, just 22 days ago. Now, they'll get a playoff rematch, and the prize is a trip to the AFC Championship Game.

This particular time slot is notable for Kansas City for several reasons. It's the first game of the weekend, which means fans won't have to wait long to see the team play after the playoff bye week. Obviously, the game being played early on Saturday means they'll have the longest possible preparation period should they advance to host the AFC Championship Game.

Given their truncated schedule this week due to travel back from Denver in Week 18, playing on Saturday also means they'll have one fewer day of practice. The team practiced the past two days, on Friday and Saturday, but they'll actually get Sunday off now in preparation for the divisional round. Of course, the team knew beforehand about the time slot, allowing the team to take this time off.

This upcoming week, the team will practice on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before holding a walkthrough on Friday.
