The NFL had the perfect message for running back Derrick Henry after his big first year with the Baltimore Ravens.
Henry, who signed a two-year, $16 million contract with the Ravens in the offseason, capped off a historic year with the franchise by becoming the first player in league history with multiple seasons of at least 1,800 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
King Henry secured the record in Week 18 against the Cleveland Browns, where he rushed 20 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns.
Interestingly, though, that's not the only historic feat that Henry made during the contest. As he finished the campaign with 1,921 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, he also became the first NFL player to have multiple seasons with at least 1,900 rushing yards. The other time Henry did it was back in the 2020 season when he tallied a career-high 2,027 yards on the ground.
The NFL made the announcement on Monday, sharing a graphic of the accomplishment along with a strong five-word message.
"STATS FIT FOR A KING," the NFL wrote along with a crown emoji, referencing the Ravens RB's "King Henry" nickname.
Derrick Henry deserves the recognition, that's for sure. He was a huge reason why the Ravens were able to finish the campaign with a 12-5 record and establish themselves as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
It is also worth noting that the Ravens became the first team in NFL history to record over 4,000 passing and 3,000 rushing yards in a single season. Obviously, Henry's presence helped Baltimore achieve the feat.
As the Ravens enter the NFL playoffs, Henry is expected to play a major role in the team's quest for Super Bowl glory.
