The NFL is taking action this week against veteran referee Jeff Seeman.
Seeman has been suspended by the league for two games over an instance of “unprofessional conduct” in Sunday’s matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Monday. The suspension was reportedly handed down by NFL Vice President of Officiating Ramon George.
Additionally, Seeman’s fellow NFL referee Adrian Hill has been suspended for one game due to an instance of unprofessional conduct of his own. During Sunday’s Minnesota Vikings-Miami Dolphins game at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., Hill openly berated Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson for unintentionally colliding with him (see the video here).
As for Seeman, he was caught on camera cursing at Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during the Arizona-New York game at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Seeman was seen telling McBride “f--- you” multiple times during a stoppage in play in the second half.
Further details have since emerged on the Seeman-McBride incident, which was apparently sparked by McBride’s pleas for a pass interference flag. McBride reportedly did not even curse at Seeman during the episode.
Seeman, the son of late former NFL Senior Director of Officiating Jerry Seeman, has been a line judge in the league since 2002. But now Seeman will be suspended for both Week 5 and Week 6 due to his incident with the two-time Pro Bowler McBride.
