We could see some major NFL history this Sunday.
The Kansas City Chiefs have won the last two Super Bowls and are trying to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. They'll have their chance when they play the Philadelphia Eagles for the second time in three years.
A Chiefs win would be a "three-peat," and the NFL has reached an agreement with Pat Riley even though he trademarked the phrase during the 1988-89 season when the Los Angeles Lakers were going for their third straight NBA title.
The Lakers won back-to-back titles with Riley as head coach in the 1986-1987 and 1987-1988 seasons, leading Riley to trademark "three-peat" but the Lakers lost to the Detroit Pistons in the 1989 NBA Finals.
Still, according to Darren Rovell of cllct, Riley has reached an agreement with the NFL to allow the Chiefs to use the term if they win on Sunday. The products would be sold at Chiefs retail and likely include shirts, hats, pants, you name it.
The Chiefs come into Super Bowl LIX as a 1.5-point favorite. The line hasn't changed since the matchup between the Chiefs and Eagles was finalized over a week ago.
This will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII from two years ago, a game that the Chiefs won by three, 38-35. They were down for most of the game but outscored the Eagles 17-8 in the final frame to win by a field goal.
Revenge is very much on the Eagles' minds as they try and win their second Super Bowl in franchise history. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are trying to win their fourth Super Bowl of the Mahomes era and fifth overall.
Kickoff for Super Bowl LIX will be at 6:30 p.m. ET on FOX. Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady will be the announcers.
