The Philadelphia Eagles bulldozed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
They jumped out to a quick 17-0 lead in the first half before extending it to 24 heading into halftime. They kept stomping on the Chiefs coming out of the break, taking a 34-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
The game was over by that point but there was still a penalty that the refs missed during the fourth quarter.
Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams forced Mahomes to fumble during a drive in the fourth quarter and while both teams were attempting to recover the fumble, fellow Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter hit Mahomes in the facemask.
A penalty was called, but not for that play. Williams celebrated a bit too hard, causing the officials to call unsportsmanlike conduct while dunking the ball over the crossbar.
The officials missed the call on Carter during that fumble. Even though the Eagles were up 37-6 at that point in the fourth quarter, you still want refs to be consistent throughout the game.
Despite not calling the penalty, Mahomes was fine and was able to finish the game.
The Chiefs were trying to make NFL history and become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row but it wasn't meant to be. The Eagles got revenge on them after losing to the Chiefs two seasons ago in Super Bowl LVII.
Based on how great both teams are expected to be again in 2025, there's a real chance we could see a rematch of this year's Super Bowl for Super Bowl LX.
Both teams will lose key players over the offseason but they've shown time and time again that they have what it takes to replace those players.
The 2025 NFL regular season will start in September.
