NFL reportedly has date in mind for 2023 schedule release

The NFL is such a giant in the American sports landscape that there is actual intrigue for when the announcement of the regular season schedule will be released.

Not the schedule itself. Just the day it will be annouonced.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league is targeting May 11 for its schedule release for the 2023 season

At this point, all 32 teams know exactly which teams they will be playing and where they will be playing them. Most of the matchups are known years in advance as the league rotates divisional matchups, while each team plays the three teams in its division twice each season (one at home and one away). The remaining games are determined based on where teams finish in the standings the previous season.

The intrigue is now on the when aspect of it all.

Not only the dates and weeks of each matchup, but which games will be primetime games, the opening weekend matchups, and what networks they will be televised on.

The New York Jets figure to be one of the teams featured in primetime matchups this season after the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Not only does that put a first ballot Hall of Famer in the biggest media market in the country, it also will give the Jets sky high expectations and make them one of the league's must-see teams.

Kansas City, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Pittsburgh are also teams that figure to be featured prominently in those prime slots because of their success and huge fanbases that will always bring in massive ratings.
