NFL Reporter Jane Slater 'Loves' Cowboys Free Agency Signing

It hasn't been the most eventful free agency period thus far for the Dallas Cowboys, but the NFL Network's Jane Slater appears to really like one of the team's more under-the-radar moves.

With so much money tied up in Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys were forced to let go of players like cornerback Jourdan Lewis and defensive end Chauncey Golston.

But they were able to sign veteran DT Solomon Thomas to a two-year, $8 million deal on Tuesday — which Slater says she "loves."

"Absolutely LOVE the Solomon Thomas signing," the NFL Media reporter posted to X. "Guy is so high character. Really been impressed with him in our interactions. This is a guy that will absolutely align with Dak Prescott's messaging and leadership in locker room and reunites with his former DL coach and coach and returns to the DFW area."

Thomas was drafted third overall in the 2017 draft by the San Francisco 49ers and spent four seasons with them before stops with the Raiders and Jets.

And while Thomas has never quite lived up to that top-of-the-draft billing, he's been a more than steady pro that's contributed to a lot of winning football.

That's something Dallas is in desperate need of following last year's disappointing 7-10 finish — thanks in large part to Dak's season-ending hamstring injury. Prior to that, the Cowboys had enjoyed three straight 12-win campaigns (albeit with same old playoff heartbreaks).

We'll see how this season goes though with the defending champion Eagles reloading and the upstart Commanders on the rise.

Washington has added former 49ers star Deebo Samuel, as well as five-time Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil this offseason — and they may not be done just yet.

The Cowboys are in desperate need of a reliable run game and some help at linebacker and corner.

There's still some of those guys out on the market, but it's more likely than not that Jerry Jones and Co. look to the draft to add those depth pieces.
