Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants picked up their fourth win of the season in Week 18, defeating Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys 34-17. It was the first time all year they won two straight games.
The rookie quarterback completed 22-of-32 passes for 230 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 110.2 passer rating. He also rushed for 32 yards on five carries.
In the third quarter, Dart scrambled for a five-yard gain, but while sliding down, was hit by Cowboys defensive lineman Quinnen Williams. Williams was then flagged for unnecessary roughness.
The 15-yard penalty was added to the play, netting the Giants a total of 20 yards and an automatic first down. New York finished the drive with a 13-yard passing touchdown to running back Tyrone Tracy Jr.
Williams' hit on Dart, aided in the Giants' scoring drive and meant he could receive another punishment from the NFL. The league's rules enforcement guidelines state a player can be fined $11,593 for a late hit and $17,389 for a second offense in the same season.
If Williams does receive a fine, it wouldn't be the first of his career. Since joining the NFL in 2019, he's been fined six times, totaling $102,356.
On Saturday, the NFL revealed its gameday accountability update for Week 18, making an official ruling for the defender. The good news for Williams is that he avoided a fine for his hit on Dart. The only Cowboys players to receive fines were Donovan Wilson ($23,186, use of the helmet) and Donovan Ezeiruaku ($10,258, facemask)
Up next for Williams and the Cowboys is the offseason. After going 7-9-1, they finished in second place in the NFC East, but missed the playoffs for a second straight season.
As for the recipient of his hit, Dart waits to see who the Giants hire as the franchise's next head coach. He will look to help New York bounce back in 2026, with hopes of earning a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
