NFL schedule could provide hint about Aaron Rodgers’ plan

Aaron Rodgers has yet to decide whether he will play football this upcoming season, but it appears as though the NFL is trying to predict what the future holds for the star quarterback.

The NFL will release its full 2025 regular-season schedule on Wednesday night. As always, there were numerous leaks about specific games ahead of the official league announcement.

There is one particular game on the schedule that would be much, much more exciting if Rodgers were to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers will reportedly face the New York Jets on the road in Week 1.

That means if Rodgers were to sign with the Steelers, the 41-year-old would have an opportunity to face his former team in the first game of the season. Fields, who is expected to start for the Jets, will also face his former team, so the game would be a so-called revenge game for both Rodgers and Fields.

Rodgers recently unloaded on the Jets over the way they handled his release. He also did not win very many games with the franchise, so it seems unlikely that he would get a warm reception at MetLife Stadium.

Though the game is not expected to be in primetime, it would still feature plenty of Week 1-worthy storylines if Rodgers were involved. That could be the type of matchup that the NFL scheduled hoping (or expecting) that Rodgers will eventually sign with Pittsburgh.

The Steelers still have an offer outstanding to Rodgers, but a recent report did not exactly give fans in Pittsburgh much reason for optimism.
