NFL schedule makers clearly did not care about what the Las Vegas Raiders went through with injuries last season

The Las Vegas Raiders' 2025 schedule has some really good aspects, like the number of primetime games, a few home and away stretches, and some hard and easy stretches.

In that aspect of it all, it's just like any other schedule. But, when you really take a deep dive into it all, and I do mean a deep dive, there are some extreme disadvantages for the Raiders. In fact, the Raiders’ 2025 schedule has some of the biggest disadvantages going Las Vegas’ way that we will see this next season.

And it all starts with rest days.

Raiders’ 2025 schedule won’t help injury problem

In 2024, the Raiders had a very obvious injury problem. They were getting injured left and right, and even their best players were getting injured. We saw Maxx Crosby, a guy who never gets injured, miss his first career game last year. Then, on top of that, we saw Christian Wilkins go out for the year, along with the best cornerback at the time in Jakorian Bennett.

The Raiders could really use a break in 2025 when it comes to injuries. But it’s the NFL, the most physical sport in America, so nothing is promised. The NFL did do a good job at giving the Raiders an earlier bye week this season, but the rest of the rest they are getting throughout the season, just isn’t good compared to the teams they will be playing.

According to Sharpe Football, the Raiders have the fewest rest edge games with one, the most rest disadvantage games with six, and a net -19 days of rest, which is the worst in the NFL. And that’s all for a team that had some of the most significant injuries last season.

This doesn’t mean the Raiders still can’t have a good season, because they most certainly can. In fact, I still have this team winning 7-9 games, which is a great season considering they just won four games last season. But they will certainly have a lot of things working against them, and most of them are on their schedule.

There’s this rest disadvantage they so clearly have, along with the schedule makers scheduling a home game in Las Vegas the same weekend as other huge events, making it harder for the Raiders to have good home fan attendance. Regardless of what happens with their schedule, it feels like head coach Pete Carroll will have his team ready.
