NFL scout shares bold take on Bears QB Justin Fields

Things have not been easy for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields since he entered the NFL as the 11th overall pick back in 2021. Since then, he has posted a 6-25 record as a starter, and some feel that the Bears should just move on and look for another solution under center.

However, an NFL scout tells the NFL Analysis Network that the Bears should be patient with the youngster and that they will be rewarded if they are.

“Everyone is so quick to hate on and give up on Justin Fields, and I think the Bears would be foolish to do so,” said the scout. “He’s got superstar talent, and I still think he becomes a top-seven quarterback in the NFL in the next two years.”

That’s certainly a bold prediction given the type of start Fields has gotten off to over his first three seasons, but there is no doubt that he has talent and has flashed it this year.

Prior to going down with a thumb injury, Fields put together a couple of terrific performances, totaling eight touchdowns and just one interception in the face of massive adversity between Weeks 4 and 5, the latter of which resulted in Chicago’s first win of 2023. Those outings came in the midst of chatter that the Bears should bench the 24-year-old.

Now, of course, you can’t base your future on just two games, but there is also no question that Fields is in better standing now than he was during the first three weeks of the season, when he was one of the most maligned players in the league.

On the season overall, the Ohio State product has thrown for 1,201 yards, 11 touchdowns and six picks while completing 61.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.6. He has also carried the ball 47 times for 237 yards and a score.

The Bears are currently rolling with Tyson Bagent at signal-caller with Fields sidelined. The club is 2-6 and will take on the the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.
