New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo had an incredible start to his NFL career. He appeared in all of the Giants' eight games so far this season with five starts. In those games, he had 101 carries for 410 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 207 yards and two more scores.

Skattebo was selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after a very successful senior year with the Arizona State Sun Devils. He had 293 rushes for 1,711 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground with 45 receptions for 605 yards and three scores in the pass game in 2024. This led to him finishing fifth in Heisman Trophy balloting.

After a great first seven games of his rookie year, Skattebo went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday while attempting to catch a pass from fellow rookie Jaxson Dart.

The 23-year-old was carted off the field, and news came out after the game that his dislocated ankle is considered to be season-ending.

On Monday, Skattebo underwent surgery in a Philadelphia hospital.

"Thank you everyone for the support!!" he said in a post on X. "Surgery went well. This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!!"

After Skattebo posted about his surgery, the NFL sent a heartfelt message to the Giants' running back on the league's X account.

"Wishing @camskattebo5 a speedy recovery ❤️," the caption read.

With Skattebo sidelined for the remainder of the season, the Giants will have to lean on Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Devin Singletary at the running back position.

This weekend, New York (2-6) will take on the San Francisco 49ers (5-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium on CBS.
