Last week we had some debate about whether to use the Buffalo Bills. I thought it was too soon, and I was right (they lost to the Jets), however, now that Josh Allen is compromised, I may have missed an opportunity earlier in the season.
Kansas City was another elite team that was considered because they had a lightish matchup and they came through on the shortened card. Speaking of that, this is another week with some solid teams off the schedule as Baltimore, Cincinnati, New England, and the Jets are all on their byes this week. The Jets beat the Bills last week so they might have actually been considered on Sunday.
Speaking of last week. Miami was the play and they got the road win over the Bears, even though Chicago QB Justin Fields ran all over them (the Dolphins did not cover, ughh). That makes 5 wins in a row in this space if you are counting (I am).
Let's find another for those souls that are still in the hunt in their pools.
Survivor Pool Teams Used So Far: Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Chargers, Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, and Miami Dolphins.
Record: 5-4
There are definitely two schools of thought for this week. The first is to take Philadelphia, finally. They have yet to lose a game and have a very favorable matchup, at home against Washington. They are the only double-digit favorite on the board this week. That is very tempting for sure.
This week we also have a lot of surprise favorites with teams like the Giants and Atlanta expected to win their matchups and continue surprising seasons. I haven't used either of these teams yet, but it does feel like a bit of a reach given the pool of teams still available.
When all is said and done the Chiefs may be the best team in the NFL this season. They did not overwhelm last week against Tennessee but they have a very favorable matchup at home against Jacksonville this week. Patrick Mahomes vs. Trevor Lawrence might become a thing one day, but we are not there yet. The Chiefs are favored by almost 10 points.
The Jags are off a stunning comeback win against the Raiders. Since we are just focused on the win, not the cover, I am not worried about them being overvalued this week. This has just been a horribly inconsistent team this season and they are going to need to follow up their effort from last week with an even better one this week for them to even have a chance.
As a final note, now is the time to back KC. Sure, they can beat anyone but after this week, four of their next vie games are on the road where they will be more vulnerable. You definitely don't want to leave this team in the chamber.
