It's not even training camp yet, but a full-blown fight broke out at Thursday's practice for the New York Giants.
The Giants are entering their fourth season with head coach Brian Daboll. Considering his team went 3-14 last year, it's imperative that he gets off to a hot start this fall. That won't be easy since the G-Men have an incredibly challenging schedule.
One thing the Giants won't lack this season is tenacity. During OTAs this Thursday, Pro Bowl pass rusher Brian Burns was at the center of a massive brawl.
Burns reportedly sprinted from the sideline onto the field to tackle Giants offensive lineman James Hudson III.
"Huge fight at #Giants camp," SNY reporter Connor Hughes said. "Brian Burns just sprinted in from the sideline. Tackled Hudson to ground in a fight. Kayvon Thibodeaux threw some punches, too. Tensions started play before. Almost went down there. Hudson, Burns separated. After the next play through things really broke out."
Hughes said tension was building between Burns and Hudson at practice. Clearly, they weren't willing to settle down.
"Burns and Hudson started play before. Both players taken to their sidelines," Hughes continued. "Jermaine Eluemunor and Kayvon Thibodeaux then got into it next play. Some punches thrown. Sidelines came together. Hudson got involved in the Kayvon/Eluemunor scuffle. Burns then came SPRINTING in and took Hudson to ground."
Daboll reportedly ended practice after this ugly scene. He'll certainly face questions about this brawl during his next media session.
Judging by the early reactions on social media, Giants fans have no problem with players throwing punches at OTAs.
The Giants will begin their 2025 season on Sept. 7 against the Washington Commanders. Their fans are hoping to see some fight in September.
