With the NFL trade deadline exactly one month away, it sounds like one team is already gearing up to be sellers.
The 2025 season has been a struggle for the New Orleans Saints, make no mistake about it. They're currently 0-4 under first-year head coach Kellen Moore. Although they've kept things close in three of four games, the reality is the franchise has a long way to go before it can be considered a Super Bowl contender again. In theory, the front office can speed up the rebuild by accumulating draft picks.
Well, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, there are teams around the league interested in a few veterans on the Saints. General manager Mickey Loomis could receive some trade offers in the coming days.
"There are teams interested in some of the Saints' veteran players and they'll be watching to see who becomes available in the coming weeks, league sources tell me," Underhill said. "There's a feeling around the league that New Orleans will be open to hearing offers in the coming weeks."
If the Saints are truly committed to rebuilding, trading away Chris Olave makes a ton of sense. For starters, he's due a contract extension after this season. Does the front office really want to make a long-term commitment?
Olave would also net the Saints a decent return in a trade. The 25-year-old from Ohio State already has 26 receptions this season. Overall, he has 2,750 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 43 career games.
An argument can also be made that New Orleans should trade away Rashid Shaheed. The explosive wideout hasn't really produced in Moore's offense. We saw him average 17.5 yards per reception in 2024 though.
The Saints could also part ways with a few veterans, such as Demario Davis, Cameron Jordan and Alvin Kamara. That is, of course, if they want out. It's possible they want to finish their careers out in New Orleans.
