The Indianapolis Colts unveiled their 2025 schedule on Wednesday night with a Minecraft-themed video. However, the franchise quickly removed it because it was deemed "tone-deaf" and "insensitive."
The Colts will kick off their season against the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 7. In their schedule release video, the Colts depicted All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill as an actual dolphin. While that's fine, what happened next was a bit extreme.
After the video briefly shows Hill swimming in the water, the Coast Guard shows up to arrest him. Most fans thought that was messed up considering what happened before Miami's Week 1 game last year.
The Miami-Dade police detained Hill before he arrived to the stadium. He described it as a "crazy" incident that could've been much worse if he wasn't an NFL star.
"I don’t want to bring race into it, but sometimes it gets kind of iffy when you do," Hill told reporters. "What if I wasn’t Tyreek Hill? Lord knows what that guy or guys would have done. I was just making sure that I was doing what my uncle always told me to do whenever you’re in a situation like that: 'Just listen, put your hands on the steering wheel and just listen.'"
One of the officers involved in this incident was placed on administrative leave.
Obviously, NFL teams shouldn't be joking about Hill getting arrested. With that said, Indianapolis issued an apology for its schedule release video.
"We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill," the Colts said in a statement. "We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek."
The Colts' schedule release video has been deleted from every social media platform.
We'll see if Hill accepts the Colts' apology. He could always return the favor by going for 100 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1.
