We've seen a head coach fired already this October and now a general manager is joining Brian Callahan on the unemployment line.
According to multiple reports, the Miami Dolphins have mutually agreed to part ways with general manager Chris Grier this morning. The announcement comes just 12 hours after Miami suffered an embarrassing 28-6 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football.
"ESPN Sources: Miami Dolphins and general manager Chris Grier met this morning and mutually agreed to part ways. Grier has been with the Dolphins since 2000, and has served as their general manager since 2016," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote on X.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero noted that the interim general manager of the team will be Champ Kelly, the former general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders.
Grier has been with Miami since 2000 and predates owner Stephen Ross's purchase of the team. He was named the general manager in 2016 and oversaw an abrupt turnaround that ended a seven-year playoff drought.
But after making the playoffs in 2016, five more playoff-less years followed under head coaches Adam Gase and Brian Flores. It wasn't until Grier joined forces with Mike McDaniel that the team got back to the playoffs, reaching them twice in 2022 and 2023.
However, when the team missed the playoffs in 2024 amid a chaotic year, the front office was essentially put on notice for 2025. The response to the playoff mandate for this year has been a 2-7 start where they've been held under 10 points three times.
The timing of Grier's firing is certainly unfortunate. Last month his father, former NFL coach and executive Bobby Grier, passed away at the age of 82.
Obviously the negatives will always be looked at the closest whenever someone is fired, but in his 10 years as the Dolphins' GM he was often lauded for the work he did in re-establishing the team as a serious threat in the AFC.
The 2023 team he assembled went on to become the first Dolphins team since the Don Shula years to rank No. 1 in yards, while the 2024 Dolphins were the first team since 2006 to be a top-five defense.
All eyes will be on the phones for news of head coach Mike McDaniel's fate for the next few hours or days.
