Denver Broncos 4th-round pick, running back Jonah Coleman, is being painted as an underrated and overlooked pick from the 2026 NFL Draft, as per NFL analysts.

NFL analyst Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated included the 108th overall pick in his list of the most overlooked players from each NFL roster. Bleacher Report analyst Gary Davenport backed this up by naming Coleman in his list of the five most overlooked rookie RBs.

“Coleman projects as a productive three-down back with excellent vision, contact balance, and patience,” Justin Melo explained of Jonah Coleman. “The hard-nosed runner is an average athlete, but possesses the intangibles required to eventually become a member of a one-two punch in Sean Payton’s backfield.”

Sports Illustrated’s Justin Melo argued that the 5’8″, 220-pound athlete was drafted by the Broncos because the front office wasn’t satisfied with J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey in Denver’s RB room.

Jonah Coleman signed a four-year, $5.48 million rookie contract with the Denver Broncos that features a $1.23 million signing bonus.

J.K. Dobbins was lighting it up in the Mile High City but suffered a season-ending injury in Week 10 of the 2025 season. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry for 772 rushing yards in 2025, per Pro Football Reference.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport outlined how Coleman serves as a vital insurance policy who can quickly seize control. Davenport noted that at the very least, Coleman spells Dobbins to keep him healthy.

“And if Dobbins goes down (again), Coleman could go from Day 3 rookie to the lead back,” Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport noted.

J.K. Dobbins has missed seven or more games in four out of his six seasons in the NFL. Dobbins’ uncertain durability makes Coleman an insurance policy, but his skill set also poses a threat to the snaps of Denver’s other RB.

Why Jonah Coleman threatens RJ Harvey’s snap share

RJ Harvey secured 12 Scrimmage touchdowns and 896 scrimmage yards in his rookie season in the NFL. However, he struggled heavily between the tackles with an inefficient 3.7 yards per carry, as per Pro Football Reference.

Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton recently listed RJ Harvey on his list of every NFL Team’s Biggest Bust in the 2026 season.

“Expect Dobbins to maintain an early-down role,” Moe Moton noted. “Harvey may share pass-catching opportunities with Coleman.”

Jonah Coleman was heavily involved in the passing game during the spring practices, according to Luca Evans of The Denver Post.

He’s shown some real quick burst, making plays on screen passes and choice routes out of the backfield. His dense build will help in blocking pass rushers on obvious passing downs.

Evans believes that Coleman will “probably” see the field right away for Denver, and this isn’t good news for RJ Harvey in his sophomore season.

Coleman’s path to getting more snaps will be his ability on the ground.

He accumulated 1,811 rushing yards and 531 receiving yards with a whopping 27 total TDs (25 rushing TDs) in his last two collegiate seasons with the Washington Huskies, as per DNVR Sports’ Zac Stevens on X.

As Davenport noted, it is very much possible that Coleman eats into Harvey’s share of the backfield workload.
