DK Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks saw their season come to an end after falling short of the playoffs for a second straight season.
The Seahawks were in prime position to make the postseason with an 8-5 record going into Week 15. However, two straight losses ultimately decided their fate, missing the playoffs with a 10-7 record in favor of the Los Angeles Rams.
Metcalf has been one of the top wide receivers in the league since joining Seattle in 2019. But with the emergence of second-year wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Metcalf saw his production take a slight dip.
In 2024, the former Ole Miss star recorded 66 catches for 992 yards and five touchdowns, arguably his worst season since he was a rookie.
Amid the down season and Smith-Njigba's emergence, Metcalf has found himself in the middle of trade talks. Tyler Brooks of The 33rd Team believes Metcalf would be the perfect trade candidate for the Los Angeles Chargers. This would pair Metcalf with quarterback Justin Herbert, who signed a five-year, $262.5 million contract in 2023.
"Metcalf heads into the final year of his deal, and the Seahawks could focus on getting some kind of value out of their former draft steal instead of letting him walk in free agency after this season," Brooks wrote. "The Los Angeles Chargers could be a great fit, pairing Metcalf's deep-threat ability with Justin Herbert's arm talent and Ladd McConkey's ability to get open in the short-intermediate game."

Brooks has the Chargers sending a 2025 3rd-round pick to the Seahawks in exchange for Metcalf and a 2025 6th-round pick.
Herbert and Los Angeles saw their season come to an end after a 32-12 loss to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round. Although it wasn't the finish first-year head coach Jim Harbaugh was hoping for, he certainly has a nice young offensive duo to work with in the future.
Rookie wideout Ladd McConkey proved to be a solid pass-catcher in his first year alongside Herbert, recording 82 catches for 1,149 yards and seven touchdowns. However, the rest of the Chargers receiving room seems underwhelming.
Adding Metcalf alongside McConkey could give Herbert and Harbaugh a high-powered offense.
