NFL Week 13: New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons betting picks, preview

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints in Week 12 to grab the top spot in the NFC South, and now they'll head north to take on the New York Jets this Sunday. Let's break down the cross-conference matchup and target some winning bets, shall we?

New York Jets vs. Atlanta Falcons betting odds, preview

Spread: Falcons -2, Over/under: 34, Moneyline: Falcons -132 | Jets +112

This isn't the most entertaining game of the Week 13 slate, but all bets count the same no matter the matchup.

The Falcons, despite having a losing record at 5-6, are on top of the NFC South thanks to their 24-15 win against the Saints last Sunday. Atlanta is starting to get Bijan Robinson going, as the rookie running back has racked up 229 total yards and three touchdowns over the last two games. He should be able to have success against a Jets defense that's been much stingier against the pass than the run.

As for New York's offense, it hasn't been pretty all year, and it's only getting worse. Tim Boyle replaced Zach Wilson last week and led the Jets to just 159 yards of offense against the Miami Dolphins. The offense has managed only two touchdowns over the last four games. New York now ranks 31st in the NFL in total yards per game and 30th in points per game.

No wonder the total for this matchup is sitting at a measly 34.

Jets vs. Falcons betting picks

Falcons -2 (-110 DraftKings)

This line seems a bit fishy, and it's moved down from the opener of 2.5, indicating there's some interest in the Jets this week. But ... why?

Boyle is the worst quarterback currently starting in the NFL. Point blank. The 29-year-old is 0-4 in four career starts with four career touchdown passes and 11 career interceptions. He's not good enough to hold a roster spot on any NFL team, yet he'll be starting his second game in a row this week. We'll gladly bet against Boyle in a game he basically just needs to lose.

Tyler Allgeier over 32.5 rushing yards (-110 DK)

Robinson is far and away the most talented running back on the Falcons, but Arthur Smith continues to feed Tyler Allgeier the ball. Allgeier has recorded double-digit carries in seven of Atlanta's 11 games this season, and he's gone over 32.5 rushing yards in five of the last seven.

This will be another run-heavy gameplan from the Falcons, which means Allgeier will once again be more involved in the offense than Falcons fans would like.
