With week 2 NFL games in the books, here are five knee-jerk reactions to the NFL slate.

Five Knee-Jerk Reactions to NFL Week 2 action

5. Daniel Jones proving the Colts right for choosing him to be starter over Anthony Richardson

We are only two weeks in, and Daniel Jones has already proved to the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff that they made the right decision in the summer quarterback battle. Jones has put together back-to-back solid performances against the Miami Dolphins and now the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and Jones passed for 316 yards and a touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown. If Jones continues to play well, the Colts will be a factor in their division and maybe even the entire AFC.

4. The Detroit Lions showed they’ll be fine without Ben Johnson

The Lions took on the Chicago Bears, who are coached by their former offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson. Detroit blew out the Bears, putting up 52 points in a clinic. Jared Goff tossed five touchdown passes, and Pro Bowl receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown caught three of the five touchdown passes.

Detroit completely flipped a switch after being embarrassed by the Packers last week. Heavy questions about the Lions’ offense formed after they fell flat against the Packers, as many wondered if the Lions could survive without their old coach. If week two was any indicator of what’s to come, the Lions look like they will be just fine on offense.

3. The Packers’ defense is the best in the NFL

Through two weeks, the Green Bay Packers‘ defense looks to be the best in the NFL. The Packers defense stifled both the Lions and Washington Commanders offenses. Both these teams were among the best offenses in the NFL last season, and the Packers’ defense rendered both teams useless on offense.

Micah Parsons has added a dangerous playmaking threat to Green Bay, and the scarier part is Parsons isn’t even playing all the snaps he can yet.

2. It’s time to hit the panic button in KC

The Kansas City Chiefs lost their Super Bowl rematch to the Philadelphia Eagles in week two, putting the Chiefs at 0-2 on the season. One reason it’s time to hit the panic button in KC is that teams that start 0-2 roughly have a ten percent chance of making the playoffs. Secondly, KC has lost three straight games for the first time in Patrick Mahomes‘ career as the starter for the Chiefs. There were very few bright spots for the Chiefs against Philly. The biggest concern is how much is being put on Mahomes’ shoulders to make things happen for the Chiefs.

For the second consecutive week, Mahomes was the leading rusher for the Chiefs, which can’t continue to happen if the Chiefs want to find ways to get back on track. They do take on the New York Giants next week, which will give them a good chance to get in the win column; however, after that, they have the Ravens, Lions, and Commanders over the next few weeks. Things could get ugly very quickly for the Chiefs if they don’t figure things out quickly.

1. The Bengals’ season is over after Joe Burrow‘s injury News

The Cincinnati Bengals are bracing to be without superstar quarterback Joe Burrow for what looks like a couple of months. Burrow suffered a turf toe injury and after seeking different opinions he opted for surgery which will sideline Burrow for a few months. With the 2025 season being so crucial for Burrow and the Bengals after missing the playoffs the last two seasons, it is disappointing that Burrow won’t be able to make things right in 2025.

Cincinnati is 2-0, and backup Jake Browning has proved to be a capable backup up however, the likelihood of the Bengals accomplishing anything went out the window once it was revealed how serious Burrow’s injury was.
