Week 5 was full of great performances, and also season-changing developments on the injury front. Here's a look at the week's top fantasy surprises, disappointments, and waiver adds.

Surprise: Gabe Davis, WR, Bills

Davis disappointed in consecutive weeks while battling a nagging ankle injury, but he made up for lost time with a huge day against Pittsburgh. He had a 98-yard touchdown catch along with a one-handed, 62-yard touchdown. The three-catch, 171-yard day drew reminders of his incredible Divisional Round performance against the Chiefs last year, and he's set for a rematch against KC next week.

Ekeler has struggled to get anything going on the ground in the first four weeks of the season, but that changed in a big way on Sunday. He torched the Browns' defense with 16 carries for 173 yards and one touchdown, and Ekeler also added a receiving touchdown. Fantasy managers who paid the hefty price for Ekeler on draft day finally had reason to smile.

Fournette had another pedestrian day as a ball carrier, with 14 carries for 56 yards and one touchdown. However, he was Tom Brady's favorite receiver, with a whopping 10 catches for 83 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Hall has been coming on more each week, and easily had his best performance on Sunday. He finished the game with 18 carries for 97 yards and a rushing touchdown, along with two catches for 100 yards. Fantasy managers are happy to see Hall fulfill the preseason hype.

Even with a struggling opposing defense, the Patriots' receivers seemed unplayable, with rookie Bailey Zappe starting under center. Zappe was able to execute the short passing game well, and Jakobi Meyers was a beneficiary with seven catches for 111 yards and one touchdown.

Philadelphia got a major scare from Arizona but was able to prevail with a 20-17 win. Arizona's defense halted Brown in what looked like a favorable matchup, as he finished with only three catches for 32 yards.

Disappointment: A.J. Dillon, RB Packers
Samantha Madar / USA Today Sports Images
The Packers were expected to roll over the Giants in London, which would be an excellent game script for Dillon. That didn't happen despite an early lead, and Dillon had only six carries for 34 yards.

The wildly productive Lions offense met its match against Bill Belichick's Patriots defense, as they were held scoreless. Goff had a long day, completing only 19-of-35 passes for 229 yards and one interception, giving flashbacks of LIII when he quarterbacked the Rams.

Disappointment: James Robinson, RB, Jaguars
Scott Taetsch / USA Today Sports Images
With the Jags heavily favored in a home matchup vs. Houston, Robinson looked like he would receive plenty of work. The Jacksonville offense was lackluster, with only six points, and Robinson never got it going with 10 carries for 27 yards plus two catches for 12 yards.
Robert Deutsch / USA Today Sports Images
Miami's offense was a non-factor after losing Teddy Bridgewater to injury on the first drive of the game. Replacement Skylar Thompson was unable to get anything going, so star wideouts Tyreek Hill and Waddle struggled. Waddle was particularly quiet, with only three catches for 23 yards.

Benjamin was the only running back left standing for the Cardinals at the end of Sunday's game. Most notably, James Conner suffered a rib injury, and his status for next week's game is in question. The versatile Benjamin looks like a great spot start next week against the leaky Seattle defense.

Hill was clearly the player of the game for New Orleans, with an incredible nine carries for 112 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, in addition to a touchdown pass. He's now scored a touchdown in three of the four games he's played and has been a quality fantasy tight end despite being touchdown-dependent.

Waiver Add: Cade Otton, TE, Buccaneers
Matt Pendleton / USA Today Sports Images
With Kyle Rudolph sidelined, Otton made the most of additional snaps. The rookie had six catches for 43 yards as a capable outlet receiver for Tom Brady and could see additional snaps, as a result.

Waiver Add: Brian Robinson, RB, Commanders
Geoff Burke / USA Today Sports Images
Robinson was expected to see limited playing time in his return from a scary gunshot wound, but the rookie still led Washington with nine carries. It didn't take long for Robinson to become the team's lead back, and he's already a must-add where he's still available.

A week after one of his best games, Rashaad Penny suffered a fractured leg that could be season-ending. Fortunately for Seattle, they have Walker waiting in the wings, and he ran through the Saints' defense with eight carries for 88 yards and one touchdown. He should see the full workload going forward, and is worthy of top waiver priority in shallow leagues where he is available.
