NFL Week 9 touchdown prop targets: Volume leaders in good matchups

If you haven't been using this touchdown prop target article to find some bets on NFL Sunday, it's not too late to start. Welcome! This resource has continuously circled big touchdown outings coming, and Week 8 was no exception. AJ Brown and the Eagles receivers scored four times, Derrick Henry scored multiple touchdowns and DJ Moore had himself a game.

Let's keep this approach rolling. Eight positional groups seem to be in good spots for touchdowns in Week 9. Why they're here and who we can expect to be involved follows.

Los Angeles Chargers WRs/RBs vs. Atlanta

Why they're here: Atlanta has allowed 12 touchdowns to wide receivers, the second-highest total in the league. Last season, they allowed the sixth-most to the position. The Falcons are also generous to running back scoring for the second straight year. They have allowed eight TDs to runners, the eighth-most.

Note: Mike Williams is out and Keenan Allen may not play, opening the door for some new faces here.

Volume leaders:

  • Josh Palmer: 40 targets, 6 red zone (RZ) looks
  • DeAndre Carter: 28 targets, 4 RZ looks
  • Keenan Allen: 4 targets, 1 RZ look
  • Austin Ekeler: 84 carries, 61 targets, 23 RZ looks
  • Joshua Kelley: 23 carries, 10 targets, 6 RZ looks
  • Sony Michel: 33 carries, 12 targets, 6 RZ looks

Atlanta Falcons RBs vs. LA Chargers

Why they're here: The Chargers have allowed 10 touchdowns to RBs, fourth-most in the NFL even with a bye week under their belts. Last year, Los Angeles let up the second-most scores to running backs.

Note: Cordarrelle Patterson has been designated to return from IR and may play this week, keep your eye on lineup news out of Atlanta.

Volume leaders:

  • Tyler Allgeier: 84 carries, 5 targets, 17 RZ looks
  • Cordarrelle Patterson: 58 carries, 7 targets, 10 RZ looks
  • Caleb Huntley: 57 carries, 14 RZ looks

Green Bay Packers RBs vs. Detroit

Why they're here: Detroit has allowed 11 touchdowns to running backs, second-most in the NFL. The bye week is in the rear view for the Lions, yet they're still near the top here for RB scores. The same vulnerability existed last season, when Detroit allowed the fourth-most TDs to running backs.

Volume leaders:

  • Aaron Jones: 98 carries, 38 targets, 15 RZ looks
  • AJ Dillon: 87 carries, 21 targets, 11 RZ looks

Indianapolis Colts TEs vs. New England

Why they're here: The Patriots have allowed seven touchdowns to TEs, tied for the most in the NFL.

Volume leaders:

  • Kylen Granson: 26 targets, 3 RZ looks
  • Mo Alie-Cox: 16 targets, 3 RZ looks
  • Jelani Woods: 10 targets, 3 RZ looks

Minnesota Vikings WRs vs. Washington

Why they're here: Washington has allowed eight touchdowns to WRs this season, tied for seventh-most. Last year, the Commanders saw 19 wide receiver scores against them, the sixth-most in the league.

Note: the TJ Hockenson trade may impact usage rates for the below receivers.

Volume leaders:

  • Justin Jefferson: 71 targets, 18 RZ looks
  • Adam Thielen: 50 targets, 9 RZ looks
  • KJ Osborn: 31 targets, 4 RZ looks

Seattle Seahawks TEs vs. Arizona

Why they're here: The Cardinals are tied for the most touchdowns allowed to TEs with seven.

Volume leaders:

  • Noah Fant: 28 targets, 4 RZ looks
  • Will Dissly: 22 targets, 4 RZ looks

Tennessee Titans WRs vs. Kansas City

Why they're here: The Chiefs have allowed 10 touchdowns to WRs, third-most in the NFL, even with a bye week done with. Last season, Kansas City was tied for sixth-most scores to receivers at 19.

Note: if Ryan Tannehill is out again, we'd recommend staying away from this group.

Volume leaders:

  • Robert Woods: 34 targets, 3 RZ looks
  • Treylon Burks*: 16 targets, 1 RZ look
  • Nick Westbrook-Ikhine: 14 targets, 1 RZ look

*Has been on IR, may return this week

Kansas City Chiefs WRs vs. Tennessee

Why they're here: Tennessee's nine touchdowns to WRs is tied for fourth-most in the league. It's been a recurring issue for the Titans, who allowed the fourth-most TDs to receivers last year.
