Take heart, Dallas Cowboys fans. This Wild Card Weekend will be nowhere as sad as last year.

A year ago this Sunday, the Cowboys suffered a shocking, humiliating home loss to the Green Bay Packers that sent the franchise into a downward spiral. So, yeah, suddenly an involuntary "Bye" doesn't sound so bad.

After a disappointing 7-10 season, instead of playing football this weekend the Cowboys will be busy solving their head coaching quandary. They've played in 15 Wild Card games in their history, going 8-7 with both memorable victories and forgettable defeats.

Tony Romo's bobbled hold in a one-point loss at Seattle in the 2006 season forced Bill Parcells into retirement. And in 1996 the defending Super Bowl-champion Cowboys with Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin were blown out in Carolina, signaling the end of their dynasty.

A look at the Cowboys' Top 5 Wild Card games:

5. 2014 - at Cowboys 24, Lions 20: A crucial fourth-quarter pass interference flag on linebacker Anthony Hitchens is mysteriously picked up as Dallas hangs on for a controversial win.

4. 1996 - at Cowboys 40, Vikings 15: Looking for a fourth Super Bowl in five years, the NFC East champs roll to a 30-0 halftime lead in a romp at Texas Stadium.

3. 2022 - Cowboys 31, at Buccaneers: Despite Brett Maher's four missed extra points, Dak Prescott throws four touchdowns and Dallas' last playoff win becomes the final game of Tom Brady's career.

2. 2009 - at Cowboys 34, Eagles 14: Felix Jones' 73-yard touchdown run sparks Dallas' first playoff win 13 years and prompts Jerry Jones to ceremoniously remove the "monkey" off his back in the post-game locker room.

1. 1991 - Cowboys 17, at Bears 13: Led by backup quarterback Steve Beuerlein, this upset over a Chicago team led by coach Mike Ditka, linebacker Mike Singletary and Jim Harbaugh kick-starts Dallas' 1990s domination.
