The NFL's first regular-season game in Germany was a huge success, and it could result in even more games there in the coming years.
The league had already committed to playing more future games in Germany, and on Thursday announced that it is planning on playing "at least" four more games between now and the 2025 season.
The words "at least" are the ones that stand out about this announcement.
That is a little different from what the league said back in February, when it only committed to the initial four games. "At least" certainly suggests that more games could be added based on how successful this past Sunday's game was, as well as the potential showing in future games.
Tampa Bay defeated Seattle in Munich this past Sunday in the first ever game played in Germany.
The NFL has already committed to playing future games in Munich and Frankfurt over the next three years.
Along with annual games in London and Germany, as well as this Monday night's game in Mexico City, the NFL also has its sights set on France and Spain as potential destinations.
It is something that players and fans should be prepared for as the league is committed to expanding its global footprint. Every NFL team is required to play at least one "home" game overseas every eight seasons, and there is a growing list of countries they could be playing in.
