NFL writer makes intriguing prediction about Browns' QB room

The Cleveland Browns have some decisions to make ahead of Sunday's roster cut deadline. 

One of the biggest question marks is at the quarterback position. The Browns officially named Deshaun Watson as the starter with Shedeur Sanders as the backup. 

On top of that, they have Dillon Gabriel, who was a third-round pick in 2025, and rookie Taylen Green, who was selected in the sixth round in 2026. 

The question appears to come down to whether or not the Browns keep Gabriel or Green, but Browns writer Zac Jackson of The Athletic sees a scenario where all four QBs are kept. 

"It was Watson versus Sanders all summer, and Monken wanted Watson all along. But there’s still no indication that anyone in this room can succeed. How do they construct it? That’s a mystery, too. Unless the Browns find a trade for Gabriel, I think they’ll keep four quarterbacks — at least for now," Jackson wrote.

He also floated another scenario that sees Green hit the waiver wire. 

"Perhaps the team will feel comfortable exposing Green to the waiver wire and believing he can return via the practice squad," Jackson wrote. 

Could Browns keep four quarterbacks on the roster?

Jackson's 53-man roster prediction has the Browns keeping all four signal-callers for now, and given the never-ending QB carousel, it sure makes sense to have multiple options.
