Omarion Hampton and Tre Harris were the first two players selected by the LA Chargers in the 2025 NFL Draft. Just weeks after being drafted by the Chargers, the pair of rookies will get a chance to represent their team long before they take the field in Week 1.
The No. 22 and No. 55 overall picks in the 2025 NFL Draft have been invited by the NFLPA to participate in the yearly NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Hampton and Harris are the only two Chargers rookies invited to the event and will be joined by 40 other rookies from the 2025 class.
Last year, the Chargers sent second-round pick Ladd McConkey and seventh-round pick Brenden Rice to the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Being an early draft pick does not guarantee a play will go, as Joe Alt was not in attendance.
The NFLPA Rookie Premiere has been running for 31 years and is meant to help rookies navigate the business side of football as they make the leap to the NFL. The full mission statement for the NFLPA Rookie Premiere reads as follows:
"Over the course of three days in Los Angeles, partners have the exclusive opportunity to engage with the future faces of the game. Through unique player activations, custom gifting experiences, and VIP events, see how your brand can be a part of history at NFLPA Rookie Premiere."
Hampton is one of nine running backs who will be attending the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Fellow first-round pick (and now rival in the NFL) Ashton Jeanty will also be in attendance. Several other big names such as Cam Skattebo, Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson will also be in attendance.
Harris is one of 16 wide receivers who will be participating in the festivities. First-round picks Matthew Golden, Tetairoa McMillan and Travis Hunter headline the wide receivers who will be at event. There are quite a few receivers picked later than Harris who will be in attendance, including Kansas City's Jalen Royals.
There doesn't seem to be any correlation between rookie-year success and attending the event. McConkey was one of the most productive rookies in the entire sport while Rice was not active a single time for the Chargers and may not even be on the team in 2025.
Quentin Johnston was the Chargers' lone participant back in 2023. It's safe to say that there is no correlation whatsoever.
