NFLPA report leak tells the world the biggest area of concern for the Colts organization and they need to fix it quickly

Earlier this offseason, the NFL won its grievance with the NFL Players Association, which was supposed to prevent the NFLPA from releasing its annual team report cards to the public going forward. Seems that did not go the way the league was hoping, though.

During the week of the NFL Scouting Combine, the complete NFLPA report grades were leaked, showing the world once again how players view the teams they played for the year prior. Seeing this for the Indianapolis Colts, especially, was a big deal in my opinion because the team's new ownership had never had their grade shown to the fan base before.

The team's ownership graded out well, receiving an impressive A. The team as a whole had only two grades come in below a B-, one being the locker room, which got a C+, and the other a bit more worrisome.

The NFLPA report gives the Colts a clear area they need to work on as soon as possible.

The Colts' lowest grade from this year's NFLPA report card was their "Home Game Field," which got a D. This was the 10th-lowest grade in the NFL, with five teams landing F's, three with F's, and one with a D.

The team's home game field can have a direct effect on the likelihood of injuries, which impacts not only visiting players but the team's own players eight to nine times a season. The Colts saw injuries hinder what looked to be a potentially special season in the making, where they started 8-2

They ended up losing their final seven games, finishing outside the playoffs at 8-9. During that stretch, they had to play without several notable players, including Daniel Jones, Sauce Gardner, DeForest Buckner, Braden Smith, and Charvarius Ward.

Not all of these injuries occurred inside Lucas Oil Stadium, but the team, of course, like every NFL team, plays more games at home than any other stadium during the season. So the team absolutely must make sure their home field is as safe a playing surface as humanly possible.

A D in this area is simply not acceptable, and hopefully the Colts use this information to attack the issue this offseason and work on replacing the current field. There were still a lot of positives to take away from the NFLPA report cards for the Colts despite this low mark.
