Nice Win vs the Jets, But Nothing Has Changed Regarding McDaniel and Grier
Some Miami Dolphins fans are having a weird flex after the Dolphins beat the Jets at home by 6 points on Monday Night Football. They are flexing and bragging that the people who want Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel fired should be quiet now.
Um, NO!
Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier have both failed this organization and should be fired at some point. Whether in season or after the season, and a six-point win vs a horrible Jets team doesn’t change that.
The Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football gave up 197 rushing yards. The Dolphins’ defense gave up 7 yards per carry.
How the Jets didn’t score more points or win this game when you have those types of rushing numbers is head-scratching.
It highlights the Jets’ struggles, particularly the ineffectiveness of Justin Fields, who was unable to throw a forward pass. This limitation almost offset the Jets’ strong rushing attack, rendering them one-dimensional on offense and ultimately preventing them from winning.
Look, as Dolphins fans, we can be happy with the win, happy beating a division rival, happy Tua didn’t turn the ball over, and glad that Miami found a way to hold on and beat the Jets by six points.
It’s all good; enjoy the moment, enjoy the win. Nobody is saying otherwise, but just remember it’s a moment, and don’t get lost in it, and be a prisoner of the moment. Be mindful of the big picture.
Let’s not lose sight of the fact that this team is 1-3 on the season and is underachieving in 2025, following a 2024 season where they underperformed. 500 and missed the playoffs, and Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier have done a totally awful job building this roster and coaching this roster up.
Don’t forget they got embarrassed by Indianapolis in Week 1 and looked totally unprepared.
Don’t forget they lost at home to a below-average New England Patriots team.
Don’t forget they played their best game of the season in Buffalo and still lost by 10 pts.
I understand Dolphins fans are thirsty and hungry and want success for this organization badly, but one six-point win doesn’t erase all the bad from earlier this month.
It doesn’t erase all the bad from the past year.
And it doesn’t erase all of the bad of the Chris Grier era as general manager.
Some in the fanbase are still spending money to fly this banner or a version of it over the stadium prior to the games.
And those words on the banner resonate with a lot of good Dolphins fans.
The flex by other Dolphins fans that one win erases all of the bad, and those Dolphins fans who want change are now quiet or should be silent, is well, laughable!
It’s such a “Dolphins Fan” thing to do to brag about, and run your mouth about a meaningless September win, and make it out to be more than it is. Just a September win.
When the Dolphins have a 3 or 4 game winning streak, when the Dolphins get above .500, when the Dolphins pull within one game of the Buffalo Bills in the AFC East, then talk to me.
We can revisit whether Grier and McDaniel should be fired then.
Until then, nothing has changed, and both still need to lose their jobs as this organization needs new management in the front office and on the sidelines.
Because the status quo isn’t good enough!
