Nick Bosa Under Fire for 'Disappointing' 2024 Season

The San Francisco 49ers' nightmare season has come to a close, capped off by a 47-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals to end their season at 6-11. One player who has come under criticism is captain Nick Bosa.

Former offensive lineman and current NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger had some words on Bosa's season. Baldinger appeared on The Morning Roast on 95.7 FM in the Bay Area, and was asked to asses Bosa's 2024 season.

Said the analyst: “It was disappointing. He’s still a force, but he’s not Micah Parsons. He’s not T.J. Watt right now. He’s not getting the ball out of the quarterback’s hands. He’s not batting balls down. He’s going up against backup tackles on Sunday and I didn’t see him destroy them.

"That’s Nick Bosa, he’s supposed to destroy those backup tackles. He still plays the game the right way, but he’s not as fast=twitch as he used to be. It looks like he’s a pure power game right now, and if it’s not working, then he’s not getting to the quarterback.”

Bosa finished the season with nine sacks, tied for his lowest in a full season. Bosa has posted double digit sack totals in the last three seasons. His 36 quarterback pressures are also a career low.

In fairness to Bosa, he did miss three games, and attempted to play through a hip injury before an oblique injury took him down during Week 11. Bosa only played 24 snaps defensively in the 49ers Week 18 loss, failing to register a tackle. Bosa had two sacks in the 49ers Week 17 matchup against the Detroit Lions, also setting a season high with eight tackles. It was his only performance of more than five tackles in a season.

Bosa hopes to turn things around for next season, like much of the 49ers team that dealt with injuries this season. It was a disappointing season for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, but the 49ers are expected to see much better luck next season.
